The sky was a cloudless blue that day, and I saw a tiny jet leaving behind twin white trails.” (Hosseini 352) A handful of of kids were playing with buckets and pails in the sandbox. Imagery: The Imagery stands out the most in this section when the Arthur is describing the outside of the hospital to the reader “There was an arch-shaped trellis near the playground, in the shadow of a row of hibiscus trees, a few green vines climbing up the timber lattice. Amir is speaking for all the times he allowed himself to refer to his friend and brother as his servant he finally put his foot down.(Hosseini chapter 24) He has a name and it’s Sohrab.”Amir not only stood up for Sohrab but Hassan as well. ![]() “You will never again refer to him as ‘Hazara boy’ in my presence. “My hands are stained with Hassan’s blood I pray God doesn’t let them get stained with the blood of his boy too” Amir finally admits that he takes the blame for Hassans death and now that Sohrab is in the hospital for cutting himself he cant handle having his nephews life on his hands.(Hosseini chapter 24) Its like Hassan and Amir have switched roles and its time for Amir to take care of Sohrab like Hassan took care of him. When they win, Amir notices a small smile appear on Sohrab’s face. Until one day, Amir takes Sohrab to the park and they engage in a kite flying contest. They eventually move to America and what should’ve been a joyous time for Amir and Soraya, becomes a depressing time for the both of them because Sohrab doesn’t talk at all. Amir takes him to the hospital and is relieved to find out that Sohrab would be fine, he no longer trusts Amir and he becomes anti-social. Amir goes into the bathroom and sees that Sohrab has slit his wrists with a razor and is lying in the tub unconscious. Amir rushes off the phon eand goes to tell Sohrab the news.
